“God is light, and in him is no darkness at all” (1John 1:5b)

In our ongoing study on the subject of truth, we notice the Bible teaches that truth is light. When we walk in the light of God’s word we are obeying the truth. Truth is light and anything opposite of truth is error or darkness. Where would you rather be, in light or darkness? I believe we would all prefer the light. Why, then, do we not make a more serious effort to walk in the truth, which is the light of God’s word?

Are you passionate about the truth? Do you have a strong yearning for the truth? If we do not have an overriding desire for the truth, we will not care about finding it. We live in a world of apathy. A world that says, “You believe what you want to believe and I’ll believe what I want to believe and somehow we will all get to heaven together. It really doesn’t matter if we have opposite views of what the truth is. We will just be nice to each other and agree to disagree and God will be happy with our attitude.” This kind of thinking shows a serious lack of interest in the truth.

“O send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me; let them bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles” (Psalms 43:3). “But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God” (John 3:21). These verses indicate a heart that is seeking the truth. Does this describe you?

The path we walk in this life must be lit up by the light of God’s word. “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path” (Psalms 119:105). Dear reader, please understand; if we do not have a serious desire for the truth, we will not find it. We will be deceived into believing a lie is the truth and we will fall for any false doctrine that comes along.

Satan is the master deceiver. He is good at his job because he has been doing it since the beginning of time. Satan has helpers in this world who work with him hand in hand. False teachers are servants of Satan.  Beware!
