The book we call the Bible came from God. The Bible says, “All scripture is inspired by God…” (2 Timothy 3:16). The word inspired means “God breathed.”  That verse goes on to tell us we have all we need to know in order to live acceptably before God. Any other book teaching any other message will only confuse and lead you away from God.

No book written by men can compare to the Bible. Here are some facts about the Bible:

  1. The Bible contains 66 books---39 in the Old Testament, 27 in the New.
  2. It was written over a period of about 1600 years.
  3. It was written by more than 40 different writers from many walks of life: poor men, kings, fishermen, herdsman, a doctor, tax collector, cupbearer, etc.
  4. Written from different places: wilderness, palaces, prisons, on the road, etc.
  5. It was written during different times of peace and warfare.
  6. Written on three different continents: Asia, Africa, and Europe.
  7. Written in three different languages: Hebrew (O.T.), Aramaic (parts of Ezra and Daniel), and Greek (N.T.)
  8. The subject matter includes hundreds of controversial topics. Yet, the authors spoke with perfect harmony and unity throughout.
  9. The Bible has stood the test of time and does not contradict itself.

Friends, there is no book that can compare to the Bible, the Word of God! Men have written their books and they fail miserably in contrast to the Bible. The Bible is the only source of knowledge we can go to for our salvation.

Only the Bible came from God. It is a unified and infallible book that has an overall theme of God’s plan to redeem mankind from his horrible fall into sin. All other books came from men. Whose word do you want to accept, the Word of God or the words of men? There is salvation only through obedience to the Bible.

God will judge us on the Last Day on the basis of whether we have obeyed what His word taught or not.

Friends, since only the Bible speaks for God, we cannot listen to the mere words of men and expect salvation. If I teach anything contrary to the Bible, please love me enough to show me. You will be my friend. Write to me in care of this newspaper.
