“But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.” (2 Corinthians 2:3)

God’s word is really not hard to understand. The Bible is written in such simple language that men must have help in misunderstanding it.

If I should teach that 2 + 2 = 3 or 5 you would laugh at me. This example is so simple that a first grader would not misunderstand it.

But, if I should teach that Faith + Baptism = Salvation, I would hear a roar of protest from most of the religious world and they would say that I was wrong! But this is the truth just as 2 + 2 = 4 and not 3 or 5.

The Bible teaches this simple truth very clearly in Mark 16:16 where Jesus says, “He that believeth AND is baptized shall be saved;…” I have never heard anyone deny that we must believe in order to be saved. The conjunction AND ties both words “believe” and “baptized” together so they both have the same power to save. Both words “believe” and “baptized” have the same value in this statement the Lord made. We cannot be saved by accepting just one and rejecting the other. So, why is baptism rejected?

Question: Does truth matter to you? If truth is important to me I will obey it every place I find it. Since God’s word is truth (John 17:17) I will accept and obey it all. The simple word of God is what every man needs today for his salvation. To accept one word of Jesus and then reject another word of Jesus is not being honest with the truth.

Many religions complicate the simplicity that is in Christ. Man made religions make the simple word of God seem impossible to understand. This is the working of Satan to confuse and deceive the masses. This is Satan’s evil plan and he is very good at misleading people. Most of the religious world is following Satan’s plan.

Friends, don’t be deceived! God’s plan of salvation is not complicated. Truth is very easily understood. It takes effort to misunderstand the truth. Just read the Bible and then obey what it says. If you are confused, read it again! The gospel is SIMPLICITY!
